As some of y’all already know, four people didn’t vote on the Fiscal Responsibility Act of 2023 (debt ceiling bill).
Those four people are Representatives Jim Banks (R-IN), Lauren Boebert (R-CO), Angie Craig (D-MN), and Deborah Ross (D-NC).
Out of those four people, there are two people who have a good reason as to why they missed the vote to pay our country’s bills. And those two people are Representatives Angie Craig (D-MN) and Deborah Ross (D-NC).
Rep. Craig couldn’t vote because she jacked up her ankle while working in her yard. According to her press release from Tuesday, her doctor told her that flying wasn’t good for her ankle and that she needed to stay home so that she could give her ankle time to heal.
Rep. Ross said in a press release that she couldn’t vote because she got COVID-19. She wants folks to know that if she didn’t have COVID-19 that she would’ve voted on the bill because she believes it will keep our economy on the up and up.
Those other two, Banks and Boebert, just didn’t do. It wouldn’t’ve mattered, anyway, because their no votes wouldn’t’ve moved the straw off the hay.
A true bi-partisan group, 149 Republicans joining with 165 Democrats totaling 314 yays, pushed the bill on over to the Senate where it is expected to pass in like fashion.
